Pit props made of sawn branches/ small trunks (at least one was oak) within a gallery close to Ellen Pit. A waggonway associated with the shaft of Ellen Pit was constructed over several in-filled shafts and galleries, so this gallery possibly pre-dates the pit, which was not shown on the 1850s Ordnance Survey map, but was ''old coal pit'' and ''old shafts'' on the 1890s revision.
