One of the old shafts, south of the main Mendip Lead Mines complex shown on the old 25 inch maps of 1902 vintage, and close to the Roman Lead mining settlement, which had clearly been reworked in fairly modern times. At this distance in time I cannot be sure of the actual accurate location as I have it marked as ''shaft at Velvet Bottom'', a valley just visible towards the horizon and it also matches up with the lane in the background.
