This is a cheeky ''two for the price of one'' photo in that the last remnants of Monckton colliery were still there; to the left the Koepe winder with the 2 concrete fan evasees (still there 2016). Moving slightly right and in front you can make out the remains of another headgear, minus wheels. As for the coke works, (being demolished as I write this), note the little blue gasometer to the right, the wooden cooling tower near the centre and the second tall chimney (only the left hand one survived to closure).
