Just visible here is a building constructed in the late 1970's when the dumps on Devon Great Consols were being re-worked. This building housed the plant used to process the dump material.(see other uploads for interior shots). To the left of this building was once a massive black dump approx' 100 foot high...all this material was removed and put through the new plant. 1970-78 A company named Redcaves installed dressing plant to recover tin from the ‘white sands’ dump material below the 1920’s arsenic complex (presumably material from originating from Wheal Frementor in the mid 1920’s). A ball mill, 15 shaking tables, hydrosizers, cyclones and a helicoyd were used to produce a low grade tin concentrate (25% metal) at a rate of 10 tons per hour. The company after many name changes folded in the mid 1970’s as the price of tin plummeted once again.
