LKAB tunnel for malm - Iron tunnel

This tunnel is within the arctic city of Narvik, built quite recently to accommodate the powerful electric trains which bring iron ore, in the form of small pellets, from the Malmberget and Kiirunavaara iron mines in Norrland, Sweden, along the Ofotbanen (Ofoten Railway) to the port of Narvik. The trains slowly move through this tunnel, stopping each truck above entrances such as this grilled shaft to my left, where the ore is emptied into a 40metre deep underground chamber, and is then conveyed to waiting ships in the harbour near Beisfjorden, opposite Ankenes.
