This is the Linby No1 shaft winding engine which remained in use until the end. Made by Robey & Co of Lincoln in the early 1920s replacing the earlier steam winder.(not known to me). This was the larger of the two Robey engines with an output of 970 KW (1300 hp) the No2 being about 1000 hp.. It was installed in 1922. Under Men/Material service its speed was limited.
