My flash just wasn't very good in those early days, but it does give an impression of the mill, which WAS very gloomy. The wire attached to the stake in the floor was to brace the timber roof frames and stop them going over! The mill floor had been concreted over at some time, dating from when they used it for unpacking/storing/packing explosives.
