Entrance to the Victoria Tunnel - 2010 - (Start point for the organised tours)

Entrance created for air raid shelter 1939 and access to the Victoria Tunnel. The tunnel being built 1839 - 1842 to transport coal from Spital Tounges (Leazes Main) down to the river Tyne, under the city of Newcastle.
