This is No.1 pithead - the cage had three decks and holds 12 x 15cwt tubs on coal at a time. Accompanying caption: "At this pit a fine new bath has lateley been installed, with accomodation for 2,000 men, so enabling them to come to the colliery and leave it again in clean clothes."
