There were eleven pits in the Grange Estate. They were Shore Pits 1-5, Level Pit, Meldrum Pit, Kiln Pit, Doocot Pit, Miller Pit and Acre Pit. The only remaining one is Doocot Pit. The winding house originally a doocot.
