Discarded Stamping Mortar Stones, Merrivale Blowing House and Stamping Mill

A clearly disposable commodity, this waste pile indicates a broad period of activity at the site. Stamping mills were a relatively modern innovation in the Dartmoor tin industry and all are post-reformation. The site here probably represents civil war era operations, however no contemporary record has survived.
