Copper deposits in the hill were mainly pipe type deposits and the steeply dipping lodes were followed down from (in this case) Salt's Level. This pipe now has a parallel footway next to it and the shot was taken from here looking down to the flooded pipe as it descends below the natural drainage (adit) level. A bit of an awe inspiring place, not to say a little disturbing, when someone throws a stone down one of the shafts from the hill top!
