When the miners returned from their shift at Princess Royal Colliery (aka Park Gutter) to Clements End, once they got off the bus, they used to empty their carbide lamps at this one particular spot. After searching for ages, one of the old local miners took me to the carbide dump yesterday, actually on the dumps of Clements Tump Colliery.
