This is one of the two bridge piers that carried the tramway from Broom Colliery down an incline to the Saundersfoot Railway. It is possible that the Saundersfoot Railway siding came under the bridge and this is where the drams were filled from the tramway. Broom first opened in the 1850s and had ceased producing coal by the late 1800s but was reopened in 1934 and in 1936 was producing 30,000 tons of coal but by the end of 1938 the Bramblehill fault became to big an obsticle to overcome and the Colliery was dismantled. Many of the buildings were standing till the 1980s as I can remember them being demolished.
