Apes Tor level 1970

Now the shaft here is concreted over and the usual grilles in place where necessary. This was the scene in 1970 before that took place. Apes Tor level led to the main Deep Ecton chamber, taking water from the River Manifold to power a type of "flop jack" engine used in the early days for pumping.
