A few years ago this had lots of pumping equipment which has been swept away, There was 4 pumping stations within a 10 mile radius, the nearest was The Nicholson pit http://www.aditnow.co.uk/album/Nicholsons-Coal-Mine-User-Album/?uid=8362 which had been switched off when the area was Open Casted, Then Kimblesworth http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Mines/Kimblesworth-Coal-Mine_3463/ and Chester South Moor http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Mines/Chester-South-Moor-Coal-Mine_3312/. Both of these former mines were still undergoing pumping operations.
