1874 map showing 6th pit and 7th

This map shows the mine was little more than a hole in the ground, it doesn''t show any buildings but a large spoil heap is developing, It does have its own wagonway but so does its sister pits George pit, pea flatts and eighth pit, However they all have buildings. So possibly the 6th Pit started off as an Air shaft? Interestingly The 7th pit just below is marked "old shaft" this would later be the upcast shaft for the 6th. Strangely even as early as 1874 the 9th pit which is at grid ref NZ291517 (approx.) had already been worked out. The 9th Pit is very close to the A183 Chester road which as a number of stone buildings, but unsure if they were connected to this pit or just farm buildings.
