This is a view along the level from the crosscut to Williams Shaft. The level here has a low roof, in situ rails, and a lot of calcite. A companion on this initial exploration agreed that this part of the mine was very old. Unfortunately after about 50 feet progress is halted by a very substantial collapse where the vein becomes a clay filled fissure. It is possible to climb up into this to a height of about 15 or 20 feet but no way on down the other side. This area is extremely dangerous and unstable.
