Walton No.1 turbine

Walton power plant No.1 Turbo-Alternator - turbine end. The stop valve mech is the assembly to the left. If you look carefully at the top of the photo just to the left of the 'copyright' notice you can see a curved cage assembly which is the one clearly visible in Dickie Bird's adjacent photo which shows No.2 Turbo-Alternator; this cage is the exciter dynamo cover. The turbines of both sets were, in essence identical although installed around 17 years apart; the alternators attached were different however. No.1 was an English Electric 1875 kVA alternator, No.2 a Lancashire Dynamo & Crypto 2500 kVA. Both were 3,000 rpm 2pole/phase types
