Waihi Goldmine open pit collapse 2
Compare this pic with an earlier one (2009?) in the same batch taken from the same point. The haulroad declining R to L spirals twice more to reach the bottom of the 300m deep pit, underground mining is another 300m below that. The collapse of the pit wall has severed all the haul roads and will test the nerve of the people tasked with reinstating it all.
