Ventilation Shaft, Gitchfield Mine

Fenced area around the remains of the 'beehive' capped first ventilation shaft on William Exley & Sons, (Broseley) Gitchfield Red Clay Level, Coalport. Worked at least from 1890s to 1950s. Depth to water/level 25m. Level now used as a water supply for the sewage works.
