Skuterud Battery
The sign says:
Skuterud battery was an important part of the Blaafarvevaerkets operation. The treatment works carried out several processes so that cobalt ore which was taken out of the mines should be fully cleaned ore. Treatment plants were built where there was access to water and a drop in elevation so that water wheels could be driven. The water wheels lifted pistons which broke the cobalt ore to fine sand. The sand was washed in washing benches where rock, which is light, came out in the flow into the river while the ore, which was heavy, was left behind. The ore was then called Slig. Slig was then transported to Blaafarveværket for further processing to blue pigment. The picture shows a drawing of the ground plan of a battery with stamps, washing benches and water wheels. Here you can see the foundations of Skuterud battery.
