Signal Staff Quarry, 1854

With a growing interest in polished ornamental serpentine, the polishing and quarrying works adjoining the cliffs of Ruan Minor boomed. This bubble of interest lasted long enough for someone to dedicate time to making this engraving, which survives as the sole visual record of the works.
