Finedoor supply new grizzly feeder for Tarmac Wensley Quarry.
Monday, 9th August 2010

Finedoor Ltd a bespoke quarry equipment specialist based in Morley, Leeds has recently supplied a new replacement grizzly feeder to Wensley Quarry.

Owned and operated by the UK's largest working quarrying company, Tarmac Ltd, Wensley is an active Carboniferous limestone quarry situated on the northern flank of Wensleydale, above Preston under Scar.

Following an approach to Finedoor to replace an ageing grizzly feeder at the quarry a proposal was submitted to manufacture and supply a dimensionally similar replacement 5 x 1.2metre unit, reusing the existing variable speed drive.

Following the successful tender, discussions took place with the quarry manager Victoria Cooper and subsequently the existing grizzly bar arrangement was substituted with a three section alternative steel plate configuration with the option to revert back to grizzly bars should there be a need in the future.

As repairs to the existing feed hopper and structure were already in progress by another contractor, Gissing and Lonsdale, the installation of the Finedoor Vibrating Grizzly Feeder was undertaken by them.

On completion of the installation Finedoor engineers carried out the commissioning of the feeder.

Victoria Cooper, quarry manager for Tarmac, commented, "We are very pleased with the operation of the feeder which is working well."

Finedoor Ltd also specialise in dimensionally similar replacement screens which can be installed into an existing location, designed and manufactured to sit on existing steelwork. Any existing feed, discharge chutes and conveyors usually require very little, or no modifications to existing plant, thereby reducing costs and installation time.
