Prior to the de-watering work in 2003, when 30 million gallons of water were removed from the workings, this part was flooded and used as a rubbish tip.

Edit: April, 2011.Since posting this picture and its annotation, it has been pointed out that the de-watering involved nearer 72 million gallons.
