Mina Manolita. The shaft collar

There is a pretty impressive shaft here, within the building and to the right of camera resides a small winding engine, still intact. Whilst photographing this awesome hole, the silence was disturbed by a flock of pigeons rising up and flying away; these had taken refuge in the brickwork lower down. It was a frightening experience! A junior Lensman provides the scale. Having completed a look at the winding engine (with usual flat rope reels) the local mafia came streaming out of some houses a little way off, screaming and shouting. Not knowing if these people - some on motor cycles - meant us any mischief, we debunked with all possible speed!!
