Merrivale Blowing House, in its Remote Context
One has to wonder what this landscape meant to the people who toiled in these hot, dangerous places. Maybe the appeal was the social life one enjoyed enterprising with a broad yolk of tinners; or contrarily, maybe it was a more solipsistic pleasure. Historic record has neglected Merrivale, so we needn't guess at these men's minds whilst we have amnesia about the very period in which they lived.
