Looking East 2018

Opened 1904, Closed 1972. Originally sunk by the Washington Coal Company, The Wagon way that ran past this mine probably operated over 100 years before the company decided to open a mine here.
Compare to how it once looked https://www.aditnow.co.uk/Photo/Glebe-Colliery_79367/ The massive winding engine house is now tree area, along with some distinctive buildings.
Today only the former stores building survives which is now boxing club and new building attached. he picture above
