looking down to floor E from C floor chamber 1 west
At the base of the manway on floor C it was possible to look down to floor E and the crane-like winder at the head of the flooded E-G incline, which can be seen as the dark square above the winder structure in the photo. This short incline was driven by Oakeley to extract slate below Cwmorthin's own workings.
