The Penybryn Engine.
Made by Mather Dixon of Liverpool circa. 1850.
A vertical, single cylinder, condensing stationary steam engine which drove the wheel, foreground, which was surmounted a pair of Neoclassic, Ionic columns, background.
It was used in Penybryn quarry, Dyffryn Nantlle where it powered the chain incline and DeWinton saw tables.
