Las Minas Jimmie copper mines
East was of Arroyo del Cobre. The adits of the Las Minas Jimmie copper mines are in the ledge of light-colored sandstone near the center of the picture. They are about 100 feet above the floor of the canyon and are probably the old copper mines describ ed by Professor Frank Knowlton, from which he collected fossil leaves in 1889. He also collected fossilized wood from a bed of shale overlying the bed of sandstone. New Mexico.
