FRANK B. NANCARROW, QMC HOIST ENGINEER
Photocopied July 1978. (LGK) FRANK B. NANCARROW, QMC HOIST ENGINEER, AT THE CONTROLS OF THE 1920 NO. 2 NORDBERG HOIST. C. 1925.
According to Polk's 1916-17 dirctory for Hancock there was a Nancarrow, Frank B (Elizabeth), engr, res 245 L Pewabic loc.
Nancarrow is Cornish: habitational name from places in the parishes of St. Allen and St. Michael Penkivel, so named from Cornish nans ‘valley’ + carow ‘deer’, ‘stag’ or garow ‘rough’.
A reasonable assumption I think that Frank B. was a descendant of one of the many Cornish miners (possibly a family) that emmigrated to Michigan to work the copper mines.
