Since this photograph was taken, the area has been "sanitized" and the two fenced shafts shown are now covered by the ubiquitous grilles. Between the open cut and the road, the ground has been levelled and graded, with, it appears, some of this material having found its way into the open cut, thus reducing the depths somewhat
