Clynelish Quarry. 1899
Clynelish Quarry, 1.3 km. west-north-west of Brora. Sutherland. Boulder clay, a glacial deposit resting on sands and fine-grained siliceous white sandstone (Clynestone). A manual winch-operated crane is on the left, a larger powered crane right of centre. The buildings on the extreme right could be the dressing sheds. The sandstones are of the Clynekirkton Sandstone Formation of Corallian (Upper Jurassic) age.
