Capped shaft

On the OS map circa 1850 the original site of the colliery is here, about 500m east of the later location. This shaft, capped in 1955, is marked on later maps as disused. Even later as"air shaft". Which raises the possibility that it was re-used by a more modern colliery for ventilation.
