Bonvilles Court Colliery drainage adit 2009

Not to sure how old this adit is but it goes up towards the bottom of the spoil heap so must have been constructed about 1845 to take the stream that flows down the valley which now disapears down a shaft the other side of the spoil heap. I have never been up the adit but when we were teenagers (20 years ago) we sent a friend up with a torch who said there was a metal door and a drop like a well. I have to get a more powerfull light to inspect before venturing up. It may be that this leads to the castle dungeons!
