Image taken from "The South Wales Coalfield" published ca 1921. Operated by The Powell Duffryn Steam Coal Company Ltd. Pits sunk in 1896 and a railway connection laid to the Rhymney Railway. Coke ovens constructed with by-product plant. Waste gases used to generate electricity.
