Alfreton Colliery

Sunk 1886, the Two Shafts were 262 yards deep, During 1967 600 men were producing 370 000 tons from the Threequater, Yard and Blackshale seams, however reserves were nearing exhaustion and the Pit closed in Feb 1968.
Alfreton Pit pioneed the development of the conveyor mounted Double ended trepanner.
