1978 - Incline Winding Gear

The Red winding gear was installed by the Ministry when the mine was taken over for storing explosives. Behind it are the drums of the original Robey semi-portable winding gear. This was originally installed at the top of the old Incline shaft above Floor D (Upper) being brought down to this site by Moses Kellow, the hair raising incident being described in his autobiography.
