Widley Level (Low Level, Widley Water Level) Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

Entrance is on the west bank of Stanhope Burn, south of footpath bridge. Driven at the base of the Four fathom Limestone. The first 100 metres is driven through broken limestone which has a cemented breccia of assorted rock within the clints of the limestone. On 11th May 2013, the level ended at a mud blockage, approx. 500 metres from the entrance, on a bearing of 322 degrees. Artefacts include flat bottom rails and one damaged wagon chassis. The air was excellent. References in Weardale Mines, Fairbairn and Northern Pennine Orefield Vol. 1, 2nd ed, Dunham.
