Wheal Druid Copper Mine (United Kingdom)

Description by ICLOK

Copper mine high on the wooded hillside above Ashburton. The Engine house on Victoria Shaft is interesting as it has housed various sizes of pumping engines and is much modified. When first visited the shaft still had the pumping rod in situ. The chimney is also interesting as it has ornamental recesses in it.
Trees surrounding engine hse have been felled. It is part of the adjent private property. Un-official access is tolerated, but care should be taken as the shaft is wide open, but flooded with pump rod. Iclok.
