Vulcan Tin Mine (Australia)

The Vulcan tin mine is 1 km south-west of Irvinebank and was one of the richest tin mines in this area. It produced ~180 000 t at around 5% cassiterite concentrates to a depth of ~500 m between 1888 and 1930. The deposit was a near-vertical pipe-like body. Mineralisation occurs
in greenish chloritised rock that weathers to a rusty red on the surface.
