The mine was one of many lead and zinc mines around Mineral Point. It's of interest because many miners from the UK ended up in the area. A contingent of Cornish miners went to MP around 1828 and the Cornish tradition is still around today.
Furthe south around Leadville there were many miners from N. Yorkshire and Durham. The descendants of an ex-miner who has written a book on the mines of the area came from these areas.
