Tan Y Garth Arsenic Mine (United Kingdom)

These works are above Tan y Garth farm. They are totally different to the slate trials and works that are to be found in the surrounding area. There are not any obvious minerals in the spoil as is the case across the valley at Ceunant and Gwaith.
There is a passing reference in Bick’s “Copper mines of Snowdonia”.
There is also a reference in a DTI/BGS publication (Exploration for metaliferous and related minerals in Britain) which states “small amounts of arsenopyrites were mined from Cambrian sandstones in the Tan y Garth mine near Bethesda (Dewey 1920)”.
