Success Pit was originally run by the Nesham Family but linked to the Lambton Collieries it eventually fell into His Hands. The mines started to branch out along the Lambton Wagon way (one of the earliest in the area and originally on wooden rails with Horse Power before Steam and Iron Rails came along, The other Mines were Margaret Pit, and the Dorothea Pit near Philadelphia Engine Works, both Mines which probably started off as Air Shafts outlived the Success Pit.
