South Witham Limestone Quarry (United Kingdom)

Owned and operated by 'Mick George' Company. The quarry has a complex history originally being started as part of the Thistleton Ironstone mines, the original entrance adit being found on the Nth face of the quarry. Once worked for Ironstone the quarry turned over to Limestone on depletion and the opening of Thistleton Mines main adit nearby in 1957.
As at 16.07.09 the quarry appeared temporarily stopped and the gates blocked by large stones perhaps due to the current downturn in construction.
