Skuterud (Koboltgruvene) Cobalt Mine (Norway)

Old cobalt workings mined extensively by open-cut and underground from late 18th Century through to late 19th Century. Ore from the mine was used to produce cobalt blue pigment for glass and ceramic colouring. Several tours available during the summer months. Very pleasing to see how the Norwegians have developed the site as a tourist mine and the obvious pride they take in their industrial heritage. You'd have trouble getting this sort of operation underway in the UK and Australia. The OHS militia would have a field day.
