Sil Howe Whinstone Mine (United Kingdom)


Underground whinstone mine which worked the Cleveland Dyke from 1899-1950. The mine started from Sil Howe quarries and used the existing tramway from the quarries to the crushing plant at Goathland which was was extended into the mine. There was also an adit entrance on the fell. The quarry entrance was blocked soon after closure and later the adit entrance on the fell was also blocked by the landowner.
