The shaft is located on the obvious shaft mound alongside the River Bradford at Bradford.
There is a bit of uncertainty about the name of vein this shaft sits on. It is either Bacon Close Vein, or a branch of it, likely Sidfordholme Vein. On an old Barmasters Map this shaft is named as Bacon Close shaft and Bacon Close Vein is also labelled Brown Close Vein.
Nearby and along the limestone crag outcrop are two level/openings.
The southwestern one being to the south of the footbridge at SK2150564035 and may be on a branch of Bacon Close Vein, the entrance is part silted.
The northeastern one is visible to the east of Sidfordholm Shaft at SK2159064060 and may be on Bacon Close Vein, and is a short trial(s)
