Saltersgate (Quickburn) Sandstone Quarry (United Kingdom)

Sandstone quarry worked from the early 19th century but after WW2 was operated by the local firm of Salkelds. By the 1980s it was operated by Bowmer & Kirkland Ltd but has now lain idle for over 20 years. All proposals for alternate uses have been firmly refused due to the alleged presence of Great Crested newts.
